Post B&M Fraudulus "build your own blaster" Modulus  Reply with quote
FInally got one of these today. Worth noting it was listed at 20 but actually rings through the till at 10.

(Not my picture! Pinched from MurasakiiAme on Reddit, who quite likely is on here too)

TL;DR- I love this. Fully Nerf compatible, well made, good accessories, cheap as chips

Long:

This is simply a ripped off Modulus where they've fixed most of the issues. It's a standard flywheeler setup, 4AAs. It probably makes sense to talk about differences since we all know what a modulus is so...

The barrel attachment is a longer copy of the "proximity barrel". It fits Nerf with varying tightness- very loose on a stryfe, OK on a retal, perfect on my Longshot, which is where it will say. It has a wide inner barrel so no drag. Ironically it doesn't fit the home blaster too well. It's basically as good a part as the genuine one.

The stock has an ugly reinforcement which also means it's not compatible with springers with the sticky-out bit on the stock mount. Fits very nicely to flywheelers. It doesn't click on as nicely as the real thing, you need to push the release button to fit it- surprising how much of a difference in feel this makes, now I know I like just clicking things together! But it's not bad at all. I may tweak it a little to restore the springer compatibility.

The "scope" is actually a blue tactical light with the switch on the rear- nice touch! It's not very bright at all but considering the Nerf one is just a hollow tube, that's still a step up. It even comes with the 3 button batteries it needs (battery life is probably going to be terrible)

IMO it has slightly nicer, more flowing looks but it's very similiar except... The Modulus has that hideous top handle- not only is this one nicer looking, it comes off and is rail mounted. Massive upgrade, the lines of the thing witout it are much nicer and it's good to have the choice. Hasbro wish they'd thought of this!

The grip doesn't have the horrible modulus skeleton. It's still not perfect, the sling cutaway is massive and a little uncomfy, and the whole thing could be bigger. But it's about a million times better than the hasbro version.

The 10 dart banana clip I think is pretty cool, not better or worse than Nerf but interestingly different- slightly p-maggish but more angular. I think it looks great in some blasters- fantastic in my hyperfire frinstance. The 6 dart clip is a carbon copy. (every Nerf clip I've tried fits perfectly but they can be a little snaggy to remove- nothing troublesome, just needs a little extra care. The worker pmags don't fit well- the lock doesn't engage strongly so you can pull it straight out. Then, my worker pmag also doesn't fit my jyn erso stryfe so...)

Tomorrow I'm going to spend an hour sticking mags and tacticools into all my other blasters and going "Cool!" or "Urgh".

Oh- it came with nipple darts, which is pretty crappy- blaze fires come with voberries at least, I wouldn't shoot a kid with these. OTOH you get 34 which is nice.

General feel is slightly cheaper than a hasbro blaster but really not far off the mark. Every so often you find a slightly sharp corner or similar, it's just that bit less refined. And the paint isn't as good either. But it's not "plasticky" or creaky, it has very Nerf-ish feel and weight. Compared to say a Zuru or my blazestorms it's night and day.

Oh, no locks.

Performance- it's a stryfe, right? Well it's not quite as powerful as a stryfe, and a little inconsistent. Shooting fvjs (because I have loads, it should do better on koosh) on 2 IMRs, it got a high 95, low 64, ave 78.67. TOtally stock stryfe on the same IMRs and darts got high 93, low 83, ave 88.5.  Worth noting the wire is very thin, it could be a rewire alone would resolve this.

All in all... I bloody love it. At 20 I'd be very happy, at 10 I'm going to go back and get a couple more. It'll take very little effort to make it a modulus beater. (I mean, you could literally buy one and a stryfe and fit the flywheel cage into this, and it'd be cheaper than a bloomin modulus). I'm giving it a black mark for the dodgy dart choice, that's not cool at all.

I'm going to mess with it over time- it'll just get some of those sharp corners sanded off first and I might just throw wire and switches into it for now. Or, I might take this dead stryfe I have...

Yeah, no worries, I should be opening it up in a day or two so I'll add it then.

Hm I've sat on the fence with this blaster for a while.
I make regular visits to B&M bought a few things but always stared at this one and then moved on.
This was a very thorough reveiw thank you!
Still hasn't encouraged me to get my wallet out as I have a few projects that take priority

Cheers, good to know, I've looked at this blaster many times but passed on it but 10 for all that is a bargain, might try swing by this week and pick one up.

Went back in today to get another one, for the attachments. It's still labelled as 19.99 but is now ringing through at 4.99. So I bought 4. I don't know if it'll price the same nationally but I think everyone should go to their local B&M and find out
