Post Boiling Mega Darts  Reply with quote
I went against the advice of others on this forum and ordered a pack of Chinese Mega Darts.  They were only £2 so I thought it was worth a try.

Yeah, you were right, they are sh**.

Half of them pop straight out of the barrel even though they don't looked squashed.

However, I found that if you dip them in boiling water for 10-15 seconds, and then leave them to dry overnight, they are a much tighter fit.  They still don't fire quite as hard or far as official Megas, but it's an improvement.  I don't know if it's a temporary fix or not, however darts don't last forever anyway.

Well done. I love blanched Chinease Mega, does it come with a sauce?
The heads also come off. I have about half left out the ones I got. Thanks for sharing that fix. A tumble dry in a pillow case might also work.

I must admit the heads on mine seem reasonably solid (for the time being) although every single one is glued on wonky.  Which oddly doesn't seem to affect their accuracy.  It's just the range that isn't as good, even after the boiling trick.

Weigh them. The tips are Vinyl not rubber on the off brand ones so I suspect they may have greater mass which will mean less range. Also if the dart fit is more loose you lose power as the windage gap is bigger.

I think you're right, the tips are vinyl. †Also I believe the diameter of the foam is a tiny bit smaller than the official ones which might account for the air seal not being as good.
