Post Foam Dart Thunder at Zone number 3  Reply with quote
Throat is still recovering from an awesome night at Zone 74 Skatepark with the Foam Dart Thunder team. The third night at new skate park just outside Glasgow and after slow ticket sales we ended up with a full house as quite a few people turned up on the night. Cheers to Rab who was meant to be playing but ended up stepping in to help Ref at the last min as all the new players turned up. It was my second time in charge of hosting the games but cheers to Mr FDT and Rab for some good back up and I felt the night went really well. We had an awesome crowd in with a really good mix of really young players bigger ones and adults and everyone was really enthusiastic and for a change 99% of everyone was playing really fair and taking tags and penalties with no problems which made refereeing the event a pleasure. As all the players were well behaved we managed to rattle through all the games we had planned with no problems, Two rounds of Lockdown for the usual start with one team nearly getting a win in both rounds, it was very close at points with literally one player left to go at one point but then they managed to tag more people back in just in time. Two rounds of domination with the bibs team getting a good win in the second round. then Two rounds of HvZ one standard and then the second round was a one dart only game, both rounds were great fun. To finish off, instead of the usual free for all we changed it up a bit and made it Kids Vs Adults so we had about 8 adults Vs 30 kids Very Happy to make it a bit fairer the refs were helping on the side of the adults and it was a 5 sec stun if hit and then the adults had a 5 sec immunity once they came back in to help them a bit as well. I think it worked really well and everyone seemed to enjoy it and added a bit more structure to the usually chaotic  free for all. Hopefully more nights like that to come at Zone, Mr FDT is working it out.

Another great night of FDT action at the zone and another full house.

I was originally expecting to ref so was a bit exited to be given the night off to play at the last minute only to switch back to ref duty when there was a last minute rush of walk ups.

Not to worry, id only brought limited blasters any way.

Turned out to be a really excellent night, in a big  part down to the players all being very sporting and honest.

Good mix of players of all ages and a few more modders in the mix now too.

Theres a large contingent of retaliators through this way which all seem pretty powerful even in stock form but are prone to big jams with folded darts,

Two epic rounds of lockdown, a couple of very frantic games of Domination that can end very quickly if your team tactics are lacking.
The ever popular HvZ and one in the chamber HvZ and the new CODE RED kids vs adults all worked out great.

My troops were rocking lawbringers, flipfury, hammershot, and the rebarrelled cycloneshock and big shock.

Zone 74 has a very different terrain and play style to Transgression park so its great to have two regular but different battle fields.

Big well done to all the FDT team, Al for running the show and all the players who made the night.

This was our first trip to Zone 74.
A 160 mile round trip probably means it won't be a regular occurrence for us, but we really enjoyed it.

Being FDT regulars at Transgression Park, it was amazing how all the usual games totally changed due to the different terrain and players.

Thanks to everyone involved in organising / running the event, much appreciated

Wowsers! Thats a rough comute! We're lucky we are more or less half way between both venues.

I did spot a premier inn just accross the road and it looks like there's loads to do in the area so we might make a night of it some time.

Big thanks to everyone who came along, especially those who traveled considerable distances!

Al and Rab did their usual sterling job refereeing - I also reffed and made the decision not to video this event - that makes a big difference to me as I can concentrate more on reffing and as the guys have said it was a very honest crowd who took their penalties with no arguments - makes a HUGE difference.

I'll speak to Zone 74 about future dates but BigAl will need to feed into that as well.

Tickets are on sale this Wednesday for our Halloween Special on 29th Oct. Hopefully another quick sell out and we can run 2 events again Smile
