Dr Snickers cage vs Artifact cage vs Standard cage

Has any one had Both the Snicker and the Artifact cages and how do they compare?

Are ali cages worth the investment?

OldNoob is doing this test shortly I believe, at least for the artifact cages.

To my mind, motors screwed in to a cage are better than trying to get them straight in a cage by eyeballing it

This. You can actually do the same with a standard cage, you just need a four M2 screws (either laptop screws or flat-head countersunk if you countersink the hole) and a couple of holes drilled in the right place. The aluminium cages are stiffer though and the greater mass reduces vibration especially at running speed. Canted cages appear to cause significant "whirlybirding" especially with Koosh darts and tend to rob power (the flywheels can apply the same force to the dart but the axial force component, the component of force that acts along the dart and accelerates it out of the barrel, is reduced). There's not even any guarantee that the tangential force component created by canting the flywheels even imparts a significant spin on the darts or, if they do, that the spin is beneficial to drag-stabilised projectiles - the greater precision/accuracy could be attributed to the lower velocity, the use of concave flywheels (which, when canted, make the effective profile of the concave surface narrower which may centre the dart more consistently - something which could be achieved with a narrower concave surface with non-canted flywheels), the narrower inner barrel (achieving the same thing) or some other factor, possibly even a combination of these. Artifact do have both straight and canted flywheel cages available though.
