Mega Centurion spring mod?

So I'm playing about with my Mega Centurion (it was cheap, don't judge me), and I want to upgrade the plunger spring. I've seen various ways to do it, but nobody has mentioned the spring to use. Can someone give me a heads up on which spring I should use, and where I could get one from.

I've removed the barrel locks, jam door lock, mag lock, AR, and removed the right side priming bolt and locks (I prime only with the left hand on this one). Other than upgrading the spring and giving it a repaint, are there any other mods you can suggest in a vain attempt to make it better (that don't involve too much shell cutting/adding electrics)

EDIT

Moved to Q&A, as it's a question. ON

There is no known spring of an appropriate size. At least not in the UK.

You're kind of a pioneer with this since nobody else really has the patience to do it. I'd love to see a write up of your project if you get the time.

The only mod I've seen where someone took the plunger apart the chap left the original spring in place and wound a shorter but more powerful spring onto the plunger rod, thus "double springing" it. I was hoping to be able to remove the original spring and just fit a single spring, because the blaster is noisy enough without having two metal springs rattling together.

Ok, so because my Nerf knowledge is still limited, could anyone give me an insight into what's the longest replacement spring available? I'll probably stick to just 5kg, as 6/7kg may be a little much force for the complex firing mechanism to deal with.

For anyone else wanting to play with the Centurion internals, I'm going to add another mod to do to the list of existing mods:

Where the plunger rod meets the tube there are three orange rubber blocks, designed to dampen the recoil. There's also a plastic post extending from the tube into the collar plate on the rod. This post stops the collar plate really compressing into the rubber blocks, and it's also what generates a lot of the noisy recoil.

I've snipped the end of the post off, so that during firing, the collar on the plunger rod gets to slam into these rubber bumpers. In theory it's also going to allow the plunger rod to travel fractionally further down the plunger tube, thus increasing compression inside the tube. Yeah, an almost negligible amount, but hey, this is the Centurion; anything that may help improve it must be done, right?!

The other cool thing about snipping this post off is you remove the loud plastic on plastic "crack" sound when firing, and instead you get a much deeper "thunk" sound from the rubber impacting during recoil. In theory you could remove all of the rubber bumpers and the collar plate, which would allow the plunger rod to move further into the tube creating greater compression. The trade off is you may loose the recoil, which may not allow the plunger tube to return to it's normal position. Hmm, something I'm going to have to play around with I think...

You need to think industry not Nerf. You will need to find a spring supplier near you. You want COMPRESSION SPRINGS. The measurements they will need will be compressed and uncompressed length, diameter, wire diameter, number of coils and spring force.
The easiest way is to take the spring to the shop, then ask for one off stock that is 2-3x higher strength with a SIMILAR compressed length, if they don't carry one ask if they have a cut to length spring in the right diameter and force. You will need an angle grinder, ideally with a stainless steel cutting disc, to cut it to length.
You aren't just going to be able to have the right spring land in your lap from Nerf sources, that's why nobody has done it.
If I was contemplating this mod I would skip this entire stage and put a 4b or BBUMB air tank and compressor/pump in it instead. You could probably fit a drainblasters in there too!

I had a feeling that non-Nerf was going to be suggested, though I was hoping to keep it all Nerf products as much as possible.

This is my first mod project, along with a Strongarm project and a Stormtrooper Deluxe Blaster project, and I've only really been into Nerf for a month or so, so I'm trying to keep it simple at this stage. Yeah, having 3 projects on the go together is not what most people would call "simple"; neither is trying to do any work on a Centurion   Laughing

I was hoping to have a spring ready to go in as soon as I break down the plunger assembly, but looks like I'm going to need to get the original spring out and get some dimensions first, and *then* do some sourcing for a new spring. Maybe something to do over the weekend amid painting my Deluxe Blaster.

Cheers for the help!

Non Nerf is where all the "Nerf" spring vendors get their springs. Have a look online for a supplier near you. Let them do the hard work.
You might have to travel a bit but if Flexosprings in Bristol can't sort it you are likely not going to be able to get a single spring. Springmakers in Cinderford might well sort you out as well, looks like they are on/near the main industrial estate there, so not too hard to find.

OldNoob, you are my hero!

Springmakers are so close to where I'm sat typing this (in work) that with a stronger spring in my Centurion, I could probably shoot them! I had no idea they were down the road!

It's amazing what Google can achieve.
