Paintball

Hi guys, just wondering if anybody actually plays this sport and if so do you know of any clubs around the Preston, Blackpool or Liverpool area. thanks for your time Jack Very Happy
OldNoob

Google is your friend

Three sites from that link within the Preston/Blackpool area. I don't play personally but I am sure it's as much fun as Nerf with added range and bruises.

Thanks! Very Happy

I used to play paintball every now and then but Nerf is more fun, cheaper and less painful.

I used to play paintball... a lot. We even went up north once to play paintball in tanks! Some of the other guys in my regular squad still play at an intentional level.

Bloody amazing sport but such a money pit. My last marker cost me over 1000, and that was before I spent hours modifying it, teasing every last ounce of performance out of it (sound familiar). And then there is gear on top of that!

I realise you could be fully equipped for under 200, but I have a proclivity to get carried away with things. I went clay pigeon shooting once. The next day I was applying for a firearms licence. Now I have children and I am poor. The answer... Nerf.

Lol. Sound familiar. You think buying replacement darts is expensive but based on my limited experience it's nothing compared to how much you will spend on paintballs in order to stay competitive and in the game.

I could have brought a couple of decent blasters for the price of a day out paint balling.

Was fun though.
bobtheman

thanks guys, looking for a club not a place where you have a day out

The vast bulk of the armoury. I would list it all but you can see it clear enough.

We noticed.

On topic. I never really got on with paintball - mostly because I don't like the fact I'd have to drive to get anywhere near a field and seeing as how I used to live in the back end of nowhere, I didn't play regularly. I think I played once. We used muck around with airsoft in the woods but Nerf is so much more flexible and sociable. I found the airsoft 'community' to be a parody of that.
bobtheman

thanks but I need to find a club as my parents probably wont let me get a marker if there isn't one

It seems like most nerfers started at paint balling and realised Nerf is more fun and cheaper.
bobtheman

It seems so.

The club/team you join depends what kind of paintballing you want to do (this probably isn't a bad place to start though). You a woodsball or a speedball kind of guy?

Personally I prefer woodsball, but never really got past the rental stage. Razz

Looking at any marker in particular?
bobtheman

I prefer woodsball the mark I'm thinking of getting is the spyder mr100   http://www.store.justpaintball.co...spyder-mr100-starter-package.html

Well, this thread just got interesting... I am now trawling their HPA and regulator sections... Very Happy
bobtheman

Lol but it looks like there are no paintball clubs in the northwest area Crying or Very sad

Probably not a bad place to start. I was always a fan of the Tippmann gear. If I ever went down the semi-serious route I'd go for an X7 Phenom. That thing is an absolute beast.

That kit looks a fairly good deal, although I noticed they do another package for a little more but also saving quite a bit more cash too. I guess it depends if you think you'll need your own pods and tac vest, or you'll be able to borrow them.

It might also be worth looking around the second hand market (eBay, gumtree and the like) for some decent kit. Quite a few people buy all the kit, go a few times and decide it's not for them and end up selling it all in one go. Sometimes they've only taken it out once or twice and it's practically new but for a fraction of the price!
bobtheman

sounds great but first I need a club
SSGT

Sorry, just read your latest post, so here's another link. Smile

Don't know how serious some of these teams are though. I'd imagine some are national/international level.
bobtheman

Turns out I cant get hold of them so still looking for a club
OldNoob

Just go along to some pay and play at weekends, there may well be club members lurking, or the sites may have regular stuff for younger players. I have a basic adjustable Viper vest in black, with fixed pockets that you can have for 10. Used to belong to one of my airsoft guys whom as moved on.
bobtheman

I may have to take that offer on the vest can you post a pic plz

This is how I met my team. Started to become a regular at the local place and met up with some guys who wanted to tart a 'team'. In all honesty, I think this is the only way to do it. Unless you can prove that you're pretty good, any established teams probably won't give you the time of day (sadly paintball and airsoft are like that). For this reason, unless a group is competing at competition level they are unlikely to have a website. More likely a facebook group so you might want to start searching there.

I say go to your local centre and ask around. The refs. will know if there are any casual organisations around and then you can take it from there. Otherwise get a group of mates together and form your own!
bobtheman

ok I might just do that
