The heat!

So whats everyone been doing in the heat we all wanted...until we got it!
I've been on a school trip to Formby where everyone moaned and we didn't see any squirrels.
(Just to mention I dressed appropriately with sun lotion so didn't complain)
For today i stayed at home and gardened.

Got the kids a paddling pool and had a few shots with the super soakers.
Watched the lightning this morning.

Still pretty hot, but now wet too.
OldNoob

Enjoyed the sea breeze, ate ice cream at the beach, went out in my canoe on the estuary, swore at 10k bloody caravans and tourist morons on way to work, the usual really. Planning a surf if the swell/wind stuff improves, another canoe trip if not.
This is the sort of weather where I really don't care that "civilisation" is a while away from my house!
Tanithlord

Trying to hide from the super sun as i have been on nights Sad
Davera

Tanithlord I feel your pain.

Yesterday I was moving 700 odd bales of hay.

Today was plodding around the house and having a nap in speedos in the kids paddling pool.

Tomorrow, work.

Yeah would bring ours out other than the fact that it's been in a shed for the last year and my many cats (yes) will in definatly scratch the shite out of it. Partly because they are curious what a massive inflatable is doing on the back lawn!

Well as a country we arnt very tourist friendly! The Canoeing sounds fun especially since it means the water is close by to cool off. Was there not a swarm of small flies (and tourists) though? I'd expect there to be hoards of them both.
Northwind

Part of my job is meeting potential students and showing them around our university. Someone cancelled from yesterday- when it was glorious- leaving me sat in the office catching up on emails, and rescheduled to 9am this morning, the peak of a gigantic ****-off thunderstorm. Sometimes I feel like going on the application system and going "candidate rejected"...
OldNoob

No flies, it's salt water boy!
NewportNerfer113

Working yesterday, sweating today... missed out on any thundery weather that might have cooled things down, it's hot and humid and everything the weather always is.  Better than rain, but not as good as snow!

What about herd's of fish? (yes, I know it's supposed to be a school/shoal of fish, herd is funnerer!) They may have innocently mistaken you for the rare Nerf fish...
OldNoob

Rare grockle fish more like...
Justajolt

My favourite IoWism is somewhen.

We used to live in Sandown and I miss it, beach a minute's walk away etc.

We're actually visiting over the summer. Are you guys planning any more wars in Portsmouth? Want to try one on the Island? Solent War Special: Grockles vs Caulkheads...
Seiryuu

Journeyed in to huddersfield yesterday and baked two dozen cupcakes, then today walked a few miles and back to pick up 50L of compost for my plants. I'm not letting this damn weather stop me.
UKNerfWar

I was testing propane and liquid flame projectors this week. Just what you need on a hot day.
Dazzle740

Well seeing as I work permament nights i try to sleep (at mo maximum of 5 hours) then get up and go the new house we have just bought and continue the renevations, Knocking off old plaster, knocking down a few walls to expand/link rooms, knock down the garage (roof partly fallen through anyway) cut down and remove the jungle at the rear (susposidly a rear garden!!) and cart everything to the skip. Needless to say the t-shirts aren't lasting more than a hour max before they are ringing wet lol.

Then home have tea clean up after kids (joy) then off to work (nights) again.

Then repeat!!!!
OldNoob

Justajolt- I am on the island in August, over on west Wight.
tbr

Well sitting in a room with 6 computers and 16 servers is an absolute pleasure in this heat!

But afterwards a walk down the promenade, a quick trip on the tram up to the tower and a chill out on the seafront (all while catching pokemon) has been my evenings this week.
dabrad89

just like tbr i have mostly been catching Pokemon and getting a sweat on even while wearing xs sized shirts (i work in an office) luckily our aircon is the dogs....
We had a massive team event on the field in front of my office yday it was a crystal maze game lets just say we were all extremely sweaty by the end...of course my team won !
OldNoob

Kev, during testing did you forget the all important flame measuring devices?

I did bring it upon myself.
I regret not saying "you know what? Lets go to Northumberland"
Just saying the journey would probably have been better.

Sadly flame systems are mostly for show. Flame is too cool for cooking do you just end up with a sooty sausage... Of course I'm merely speculating. I'm far too professional to try cooking on these things.  Razz
