Twibz's Mod plog blog - round two

Well after a huge break, I'm back!

As to not necro my old (read "ancient") thread, I'm gonna start again!

Armoury:

And two more recons, a rapidstrike, roughcut and two doublestrikes (you honestly never know)...

Upgraded:

Recons (4), raider, alpha trooper, deploys (4, actually not a laughing stock now*), barricades (3, literally electrical tape on the flywheels and soldered a 9V battery clip on) and rayvern (9V battery clip)

In the table at the moment:
One stampede - and this weekend will be one of the longstrikes for a cosplay next weekend at Blackpool comic con.

But while I had this open for a spray, I thought "Dude, upgrade it nao!"
This is where Captain Bork made his customary appearance.

I snapped the "dart retaining finger/pin" (IDK what to call it) cause I'm a genius.

Anyway; with some superglue, metal rod from my 40k bitz boxes, hot glue and prayer to the Nerf gods it's fixed. I'll test it tonight when I put the beast back together.

As expected (and you guys also pointed out) these are about on par with stock elites. I don't mind, these aren't for wars here...
I'll mod the longshot, rapidstrike, roughcut and doublestrikes (if I can lol) for my games with you. With brass breeches, ammo counters, radical paint jobs (did I just type radical?) and everything.
Everything...

That's it for now.

PEACE (unless it's Nerf, then WAR)

Twibz

*No, really.

-----------EDIT-----------

I almost forgot, the guy who made this rather nifty barricade ammo counter passed the schematics and code onto me. If anyone would like a set - or patiently wait for me to get a kit together let me know.

-----------DOUBLE EDIT-----------

...aaand I just bought a swarmfire.

I have no idea what they're like (probably pantsu) but I'm a sucker for aesthetics - it just screams being painted in some futuristic scheme.
Northwind

Swarmfire is cool as, elite ranges since 2011, massive and cool looking, makes a racket, pretty tunable... i've got 3 different paintschemes I want to do on one, that's the only real downside.
Twibz

That was better than I was hoping for, Northwind thanks for letting me know.

Just sat impatiently at my desk at work wanting to get home to test the stampede!
SSGT

Welcome back!

Yeah, the Swarmfire is arguably better than most N-Strike era blasters. It has a "direct" piston and air cylinder system (like the Longshot, Stampede and modern Elite blasters) and is good for 96fps with an OMW "8kgf" spring swapped in. It can get some pretty high rates of fire aswell (although a stiffer spring will tend to lower the RoF). Swarmpistols used to be quite popular as did integrations into Stampedes and RapidStrikes.

I can't recommend using 9V PP3 batteries though. Capacity and discharge rate is terrible owing to them usually being made up of 6 AAAA cells in series.
Twibz

Well, I painted and modded (while I had them open) a Stampede and a longstrike.
(5 kg spring and AR to both i think)

WOW to the stampede and...WOW that's still awful to the longstrike.

Anyway, here's the paintjob plus cosplay * from Saturday gone at Blackpool ComicCon...which was a clusterf--est of epic proportions. I really doubt the organisers realised how popular it was going to be.
Weird really, cause you would have thought having sold all 12000 tickets they'd realise that 12000 ish people would turn up.

Now that garage is slowly clearing, Im thinking about maybe getting two retaliators and dropping them into the longstrikes for a sniper looking gun that WORKS LIKE A SNIPER...

See you in the verse **

PEACE

*Ten internet cookies for guessing the cosplay

You know, your coat is a kind of brownish colour.

It was on sale

You, sir, win ten internet cookies.

Whats this, deploys aren't a laughing stock anymore?

Also, I didn't know blackpool was a place in England too.

Not since the Modulus landed. Ours is actually worse than a stock Deploy. Smile

I'm getting elite-esque ranges. While nothing to brag about its a nasty surprise for people who know what a deploy shouldn't be capable of. Genuinely contemplating having one as a backup for trolling lulz

"You've brought a deploy to a firefight?"
"Yes" *shoots*
0.0 "What?"

Are they really that bad? Egads! I was eyeing them up. Though tbh, I'm a sucker for aesthetics - its probably just the tacticool aspect. Which is why I bought deploys...

Nice to know someone else thinks deploys look cool.
