Post Special Farces Team/Game type  Reply with quote
Rather than fill up the guN8 thread, I thought i'd move the 'special farces squad' discussion to its on thread

I didn't catch your name buddy, but you were awesome.

Also Mark, the guys and I would like the team name of Special Farces for our antics from now on, so thanks for the idea!

Inspired to get a-modding now!

Awesome, thanks guys.
I had a few ideas of things to acquire or otherwise "do", including using one of these as a rocket launcher....via a pvc drainpipe (suitably painted) using demolisher rockets. Performance would be atrocious, but damn it would look cool

We were toying with the idea of a Rifleman, Sapper (with the above bazooka), Sniper and Gunner for a fireteam... though the sniper will be some work, and we need someone to fill that role.

We view fun as serious business...

I noticed one or two people with cameras on the day, could anyone post me in the right direction for some videos? I subbed to GuN on youtube, so will see if anything is uploaded there.

Rifleman - stryfe or rapidstrike? + lots of clips
Sapper - Or just get a thunderblast... Maybe carries sock grenades and a mega shotgun (megas could be instant respawn)
Sniper - retaliator or EAT built for distance/accuracy (i.e. mine or OldManNerf's gear) and ghillie suit for shits and giggles
Gunner - arthur had this role sorted with the havok fire and 75 round belts... If we bung in IMRs into that then he'll definitely get some improved performance

"Fast moving". Hahaha...Though I like the idea. He shall be armed with a deploy and a red shirt.

Tempted, though I think I'm going to get inventing. What ranges are you getting out of them?

So, with all that ^

What i'm thinking is a new game type for the adult part of GuN, a Team based deathmatch, with objectives, and defined player classes that alter the equipment that players can carry. Teams  would be able to select their own makeup, and have 3 respawns

Repsawns would work as if you are hit, you go down on 1 knee. A team mate can heal you which uses a respawn. A medic can heal you which doesn't use a respawn. A mega dart forces a respawn, and a demolisher missile/titan missle is instadeath and you are out for this round.

The classes would be along the lines of

Rifleman: rifleman would be the grunt of your team, and you'd be allowed up to 3 in a team. They can carry up 100 rounds, and use any stryfe based blaster (stryfe, elite cam, modulus, desolator, fearless fire, rapid red).

Heavy: Heavies can wear body armour, which allows them to ignore chest/back shots, and can carry fully automatic weapons, with up to 200 rounds.

Sappers: sappers can carry mission objective explosives (foam dynamite), can carry and use missile launchers (thunderblast, demolisher, tristrike, titan), can carry and use mega weapons

Sniper: snipers must use clip fed springers, ideally retaliator or EAT built for accuracy and range. They can call out hits on other players that have been ignored. They can use 'off limit' doorways (e.g. onto the stage in Farsley)

Scout: Can only be armed with a revolver, and a maximum of 20 rounds. They can call out hits on other players that have been ignored.

Medic: Can only be armed with a springer front loaded pistol (jolt, triad, 4 victory). Can heal other players without using a respawn

Things i'm pondering:
Can rifleman have a sidearm?
Who should be able to use a riot shield?
Who can use sock grenades (act like mega darts in terms of respawns)
Should scouts be allowed walkie talkies to a team mate

I think missile/grenades should force a shield drop rather than instadeath on those carrying shields.  I'm of the opinion that you either carry two one handed weapons i.e. Pistol (includes stryfe/rapid pistol without stock attached) and shield or a single two handed weapon.  Side arms carried by all classes

In fairness, in my more detailed rules document, missiles do destroy a shield rather than insta death

I haven't really tested my Titan but it does have a leak in the tank, I would think about 15 feet, depending on how much you pump it (I will try to fix said leak soon).

I love it when a plan comes together.

I think it would depend on if you ran this as an adult game or adults V kids (both teams would enjoy this for obvious reasons)

As an adult game; just a little to add into the mix:
Rifleman: Or stampede / rapidstrike / hyperfire?
Sapper: Could also use a roughcut --edit-- or  sledgefire, barrel break etc --end edit--, cause shotgunny goodness?
Scout:  Would the barricade / stockade be ok here?
Secondaries: front loading pistols for all aside from the rifleman who can have a retaliator / recon etc?
Sheild: let the team worry about that. If they decide to give it to the medic, fine but that's a whole lotta eggs to have in one basket.
Socks: Rifleman, Sapper and Heavy?
Walkie Talkies: Yes. Oh LAWD yes. Everyone should have them, I've been looking at them today on fleabay...

Adult Vs Kids, maybe run it the same as you did on Saturday with every player just taking what they want (the big boys can impose these rules on themselves, to become legendary), and being a medic too.

I was trying to keep full auto as a bonus to the heavy because body armour + full auto is scary, rifleman should be your bog standard trooper, accurate and versatile, but not brilliant

Twibz wrote:

I'd pondered this, but my thinking on sappers using missile/mega is it makes them a danger, and therefore a target. Maybe count roughcut/sledgefire amongst the possible sidearms?

Twibz wrote:

I think we'd have to try it and see, especially given Justajolt's barricade...

Twibz wrote:

Lets keep it simple - sidearms are springer front loaders only

Twibz wrote:

So restrict each team to one shield?

Twibz wrote:

I was considering scout as well, and have rifleman be able to carry double the amount

Smile

If we keep it to teams of 4 or 5, and say you must have at least 1 rifleman, the rest of the team breakdown is down to you...

The GuN team would probably be:
bguk - sniper or sapper
omn - sniper
justajolt - scout
dylan - rifleman

Sorry to double post, but would we allow scavenging too? I'm looking forward to this, by the way!

Dylan can out run all of us  Very Happy  and out shoot me  Rolling Eyes  so i'd suggest me and him swap hypothetical roles....

Yeah, that'd be essential for the scout

I'm thinking the sniper should be restricted to 6 or 10 round clips. Thoughts?

Missions - hostage rescue, plant/defuse the bomb, clear out the baddies, hack a computer... the usuals...

But how complex can we make it - add in some tripwire alarms, and some buzzers and you can bring in a stealth element, which in the sprawling corridors of farsley could prove interesting

Maybe Jolts and Bigshocks should be usable by all classes? Bigshocks having the drawback of less scavenging potential to counteract their mega advantage.

Roughcuts/Sledgefires/Barrelbreaks/Diatrons should be restricted to sappers but, instead of having the damage bonuses, allow you to hit someone multiple times at once (if all the hits are simultaneous they all count, consecutive hits do not).

Probably not at Septembers GuN as we still need to hash out the details. Personally, I'd like to run this as a totally seperate event, with a league table over the course of the day, to see which team works best.
