A Britnerf exclusive!
Thanks to Frankie for the loan of his Hammershot and Northwind for testing his spacers. Here's a full list of all the current data, more will be added as I complete testing.
All shoots with box fresh Elite darts, usual 32 shots, highest and lowest discarded. I would have done 50 but revolver shooting is tedious!
Stock springs with spacers.

All Springs and Spacers Tested.

Blasterparts data incoming when I film it.

That's an impressive difference for a small piece of plastic pipe

OK now this is probably a stupid question. But would the location of the spacer make any difference due to the fact that the spring applies force to the plunger head indirectly through a linkage, would having the spacer top or bottom of the spring help or would having two 6 mm spacers at either end of the spring produce the same results as 12 mm spacer.

That's interesting, you've got pretty much an exact reversal of my spacer results.

I don't know what the spec of the ACC spring is related to the others you tested but it did provide a useful increase in power. It's not a massively heavy spring, the draw action isn't much harder than stock.

@n_g, the design of the spring shaft/recess means putting the spacer at the top is simple, it jsut slides onto the rod. There's no such easy retention at the bottom. I'm no mechanical engineer so I'll pass on saying whether there's a performance difference- there'll be a moving weight difference but I suspect too small to worry about- but for sure there's a practicality difference.

I just stuff the spacer on the bottom.

So it looks like our data's been borne out pretty well. The tl;dr for all of this is that for the HS, at least, there's very little point bothering with upgrading the spring. 5FPS is barely worth it. Only really knocking out the AR to improve hammer return time is probably worth it.

Looking forward to the Blasterparts results.

Considering the BSUK spring was never designed entirely for the Hammershot, unlike the OMW one, its performance is a bit more surprising!
I would also call BS on the published results on the OMW site for the hammershot and this spring!

Indeed bullshit results on their site. Though don't they use an F1 chronograph? I don't trust any results from those...

All their video features an F1 under artificial light. The basic ones are so inaccurate archery clubs and shooting ranges ban them for competition testing!

Thanks for this. Awesome results and to think of all the money I have wasted on springs for my hammershots.

Yes, thank you so much for this... I really wanted to do a hammershot mod as a secondary. I'm not going to waste my money on it now.  I may get a stock one and a 12mm spacer though.

That's why I don't like hammershots! (Also I hate the prime)

With the AR removed, tighter dart fit in the cylinder, a 9-12mm spacer and shooting Koosh you could average 80fps. Not bad for no commercial parts at all. Still not as good as a Stryfe pistol....

Not an 80fps average, that's a bit different.

I have got an average of 86fps out of my BlasterParts kit. Which compared to these makes it value for money. Looking forward to seeing what you get!

If that was on Koish G3 then it equates to about 82-83fps on elites. Still not bad at all. What cylingpder was on it? That can make a big difference too. Also AR in or out?

Yes that was Koosh3, I got 85fps with a thingyverse cylinder and 87 with outofdarts one, and both of them with AR removed.
