Red sponge camo stryfle using craft acrylics. Cheap, easy, and fun. This is the same blaster as before only now it has an artifact red cage and flywheels which kick so much ass! Also, swapped out the previous silencer for a more recessed compact one making it more maneuverable. Reminds me of something from Brink

I manage to finish my blaster in time for GuN9 and it worked great (except for my battery door falling off) I'm happy with how it turned out, but how it turned out wasn't what I had planned.

The mission was to create a powerful Stryfe, my first LiPo mod and to make it bright and shiny (I considered glitter). Gold leaf was suggested over gold paint and away I went.

Things went well at first, the Camo was sanded away and holes cut for the voltmeter, Hellcats and voltmeter switch. I filled in the shark teeth, attached the extended motor cover and primed the surface in preparation for the Gold leaf.

So layer one of gold leaf was applied, it wasn't perfect but it looked pretty good. I thought the second layer would cover the issues and get it all looking good.

I was wrong...during the application of the second layer it all went wrong and the surface was not looking good, lumpy glue, bitty gold pieces and the like. I was disheartened and ready to sand it back down and spray it with luminous yellow (future spoiler). Then I thought, let's make it dirty, grubby and make those problems into the design and try and make it look on purpose.

So the Golden Gun was born.

Quick Chrono at GuN gave an average of about 110fps with 116 my highest, with 10 fired darts.

Thought I would add a list of parts

    #   Battery Extender Tray, Extended Motor Cover, Internal Wiring + Microswitch - BSUK
    #   Motors - Hellcats x 2 via OldNoob
    #   Battery - Turnigy Graphene 1300mAh 3S 65C LiPo Pack via HobbyKing
    #   Vector Kit, extra rails, shark teeth fillers and extended mag release switch - TaoBao via BuyChina
    #   Voltmeter - eBay
    #   Push to make switch for Voltmeter - Maplin
    #   Red Dot Sight - eBay
    #   Gold Leaf Kit - eBay
    #   White Primer - Halfords
    #   Brown/Black Paint - Simply what I had lying round
    #   Gold Spray Paint (for the Jam Door) - CarBoot Sale
    #   Ability to put it all together - BritNerf (and some FDS YouTube video's)

I have also left a gap on one side infront of the Extended Battery Cover as I was planning on adding a stick on Go-Pro mount.....but decided against it.

Forum Noob here, posting a couple of recent paint jobs in the hope of proving my credentials.

Both start with an all-purpose spray primer, then a basic colour in spray acrylic (black for the Longshot, dark green for the EAT). The EAT then had some light quick sprays of black to get the camo effect. Details picked out in modelling paint, then a couple of coats of acrylic matt clear varnish spray to finish.

My latest labour of love:

Stryfe with Xtreme Pro 180 motors, Worker Flywheels, BSUK MOSFET wiring kit, brass dart-guide & barrel, Gavin Fuzzy extended mag release and custom laser cut motor cover and extended battery tray.
Paint is Halfords rattle can, acrylics for dry brushing, oil paint for weathering and Modern Masters rust paint, all topped off with a few coats of Halfords Matt Lacquer.

This project made extensive use of the Britnerf forum for the low-down on both the internals and painting so many thanks to those of you who share your knowledge here.

If you've been on discord in the last 2 months, you might have heard about the plight of my mate, a pub landlord for one of the big pubco's. He was evicted from his pub for failing to meet an unrealistic target. He has two lads, and they had a small selection of Nerf blasters that they lost when they got evicted.

We put them up for a few weeks around the time of GuN10 and I promised the lads new blasters as an early Christmas present once they were settled into a new house.

Last week, they finally got emergency housing (they were only homeless for 7 weeks!), so I cracked on with the blaster for the 7 year old...

There's no internal mods in this, just a simple repaint using a grey primer, pearlescent green base, and vallejo acrylics, before a couple of coats of lacquer.

The kid loves it...

You might consider this paintjob a bit of a cautionary tale...

After seeing Daredevil, and the camo paintjob for my mates son, my eldest daughter declared 'dad, I don't want Clara to use my fearless fire anymore, because I want you to do a paintjob on it for me for xmas'. I'm all for not spending too much on pressies, so said "sure, come up with a paint scheme". And she did, a rough sketch of something vaguely fearless fire shaped in candy cane red with diamonds on it, and a playing card... Oh shit, what had I got myself into...

If you've been to GuN you'll know how dangerous my other daughter is witht he fearless fire, and probably seen her cartwheeling with it in her hand. I couldn't deny her that, so bought another fearless fire to do for Brianna. and ordering some metallic candy red paint.

Having done a fearless fire before, its quick to disassemble and thus quick to get started. I used the same dull red primer as on Daredevil, and then my balls up occured... I sprayed what I thought was a metallic candy cane red paint on the jame door and battery door... Turns out i'd fallen victim to my eyesight, and transposed letters over each other so had seen 'candy red' as 'candy cane red'. Nope... what i'd actually bought was candy paint, the funky semi transparent stuff that gives OldNoob such impressive results. Cue a panicky message to OldNoob for advice and me using the only metallic kind of paint i had to hand to reprime the blast, Vallejo acrylic silver I use for painting D&D minis.

The brushed on acrylic gave the candy paint an 'interesting' effect, not quite as visually stunning as a FoamDataservices paintjob, but surprisingly good given my mistakes:

I layered up the candy, 4 coats in total, and other than some annoying drips, that an ebay decal of playing cards helped cover, it went on incredibly well. Diamonds were more troublesome. I cut a pattern out on card to use as a stencil, but the constantly curving surface meant the stencil was useless for me, so I did them by hand in irregular patterns:

And then lacquered and fully assembled it:

"The Fire of Eldemar"

So this is a long over due birthday pressie for my partners son but finally got it finished. EAT with BSUK upgrade spring and resealed tube. The young chap in question plays in an RPG group and his character is called the King of Eldemar so this was meant to be a blaster fit for the king so I decided to go for the purple. Good old retaliator stock and clearshot scope added to finish it off all done in matching paint.

My hit and run blasters.

The 95 has been modified to fire Micro-size darts (Elites, Micros, etc.) from the front of the plunger tube, and the original barrel is used to hold another dart.

The Hammershot has had its air restrictor removed, but currently only has the stock 5-dart cylinder.

EDIT

Image fixed. http://imgur.com/gallery/Qzllq was the URL of the imgur album not the image itself (actual image link is http://i.imgur.com/NbAGHBN.jpg but due to the size I've added a "large thumbnail" suffix "l" after the image ID and before the file extension as per the Imgur API to force the image to 640px wide like so http://i.imgur.com/NbAGHBNl.jpg).

Guidance for posting images can be found in the "How to add images to forum posts" sticky in Q&A.

Finished it this morning!

My first Nerf blaster that is not all vanilla. Consists of:
-Worker Pump Grip Kit and Stock
-Some cheap generic red dot sight
-Angled grip
-Worker stefan breech kit
-Leather wrapped handle
-and the Retaliator itself!

Some labels on there to mark it as mine, blurred out some bits as I am not prepared for the internet to know my full name.
