Post Koosh Comparative with some Stock Koosh data  Reply with quote
I've started doing limited trials with Koosh darts now, too. I'm limited to what I can do in the mornings while the sunlight is in our office until OldNoob is able to make our lighting rig for the chronograph so testing will be a little sluggish for now. All muzzle velocities are in feet/s. Thanks to OIdNoob and his treasure trove of Elite data for making this possible. Smile

5kg Elite Alpha Trooper w/o AR:

Standard 50 dart shoot over the chronograph using 1g Koosh darts. These are an old batch that have been sat in storage since last season but I only had one tip failure during the entire chronograph session which is great. I look forward to seeing how the new batches fair.

Average Elite: 96.12
Average Koosh: 87.66

Data is here.

Stock Strongarm:
I did this because I think it might be worthwhile starting to compile stock performance data with 1g Koosh darts now that Hasbro are starting to jack up the prices of Elites. Not only will it save us money to do shoots but it'll also allow us to keep up with the fact people are likely to start moving across to the much cheaper darts in the real world. For a stock blaster, there wasn't really much of a difference between Elites and Koosh. However, Koosh of course fly better than Elites by a good country mile.

Average Elite: 64.48
Average Koosh: 63.04

Data is here.

Stock Firestrike:
Again, because I had one to hand, I elected to give this a shot.

Average Elite: 73.86
Average Koosh: 70.82

Data is here.

AR Delete: Firestrike
In the spirit of bench marking using Koosh, I thought I'd characterise the age old debate about AR deletion in Elite grade blasters. I took the AR out of my Firestrike, CarrierII left his in.  tl;dr: Don't bother Very Happy

Average with AR: 70.82
Average without AR: 69.9

With AR Batch Number: 31751
Without AR Batch Number: 22901

Both are orange trigger Firestrikes. Data is here.

Elite Stryfe
50 dart shoot at 2 darts/s as per OldNoob's standard flywheel protocol. Batteries were Wilko's Extra Long Life orange wrapper jobs

Average Elite: 63.42FPS
Average Koosh: 61.68FPS

Data is here

When I stop prepping RS shells for paint, I will collate a new Koosh test thread. Interesting that there is not much difference stock. Not surprised by the AR data. Do the same with the OMW spring? Waiting on parts for your lighting rig.

I'm not putting a spring in either of these Firestrikes: you have to cut the damn handles and I don't have time for any of that, I'm afraid.

It's also worth noting that for any of my trials, scanned copies of the notebooks are available upon request so you can see the columns of figures I copy from the chronograph. It's nice to have a physical copy of the data, I prefer it to video. Smile

EDIT: Added stock Stryfe data. Interesting that there's such a small difference between Elite and Koosh muzzle velocities. The 2FPS or so is certainly worth the massive accuracy increase that you get from using them...
