Post Nerf Modulus Review.  Reply with quote
I wasn't going to review this but all the reviews I've seen online have missed several worthwhile points, so I thought that i would chime in with my 2 Pence!

Firstly, the accessories.

The scope has the same worth as any other Nerf scope. Not going to help your accuracy but will satisfy tacticool nerfers.

The stock has so much potential, but is unstable. Keep you eyes peeled as I hope to be re-enforcing this at some point.

The Mag is the disappointing 10 round banana mag. Looks cool, but I think most would pick an 18 rounder over it.

The foregrip is amaze-balls. It has a rubbery texture for grip, is ergonomically comfy and being grey and white, it matches everything - I imagine this is what women feel like when they find the perfect pair of shoes!

Finally the dual rail barrel. This is my favourite accessory, not when used on the Modulus, but when it is used on everything else. It's short and allows tac lights and foregrips to go on any blaster. Although a large block of white, it doesn't really look out of place on elite blasters and it makes the Stryfe look awesome.

Right, the important bits.

Ergonomically, it is really comfy. The horizontal foregrip that is also the battery tray is positioned perfectly and the rear grip, despite being slated as uncomfy, really isn't. I have average to large size hands and was running around for hours with this without issue. Aesthetically, it is a very pretty blaster that becomes frankenstein looking when you add the other accessories. My favourite combination by far is simply the blaster with my Tornadostrike stock attached! Looks good, functions good.

The best part of this blaster is how quiet it is (for a flywheel blaster). In a silent environment, this is still gonna catch anyone's attention, however, any form of back ground noise, from wind blowing through trees to noise from nearby traffic, masks the sound easily. I ran around with this last weekend and was sneaking up on people with motors on full rev.

Concerned that the lack of noise may mean loss of performance, I decided to get sciencey. I have no chrono and I don't even have a large range test area so I did other things instead. I pitted it against my Mark I Stryfe with only the 'Captain Funbreaker' piece removed in a series of very sciencey tests.

1st The Pain Test. - Both blasters fired 10 elites from the banana mag that came with the Modulus. I fired at my brothers bare back because idiots should were tops in public. He confirmed that the first few rounds hurt the most. I can confirm this after firing at my own feet later that day!

2nd Tin Can Alley. - The Modulus demonstrated a much much better accuracy. Some say barrels don't do anything for accuracy, so I don't know if it was the extended barrel or the new concave flywheel design, but I could most definitely place my shots better.

3rd War Time. - Finally, in a straight up Stryfe versus Modulus fight, I with the Modulus, was hitting my brother while his shots fell short of the mark and we also found this when we swapped blasters. Both blasters where running on new duracells when we did this.

The Modulus, despite being far quieter actually out performed my Stryfe.

Finally, the build quality of my Modulus is amazing. The whole thing feels very rigid and well constructed. The paint is perfect, which is uncommon on most blasters and the rev switch and trigger pull and so smooth its scary. I had bought some motors from OldNoob that I was planning on putting in my Modulus, but the more I play with it, the more I can't help but want to leave it as it is.

After watching reviews online and worrying I may have made a mistake, I am very pleasantly surprised.

More accurate than a Stryfe that is good to hear! Or bad for my wallet. Good to know that the grip isn't uncomfortable for everyone. There is also a lot of space in the front to put a battery, based on what I've seen from Bay Area Nerf's internals video... I might pick up this blaster, eventually. Thanks for the review Big_Poppa_Nerf!

Good writeup, cheers! I figure the stock just wants 10mm (or thereabouts) tube or rod wanged into it like a Recon stock, tune the length a bit too... Looking forward to getting a couple of those.

Blastaway.eu beat me to it with the stock re-enforcement! He also beat me to an Elite Blue Modulus!

For anyone who wants a cheap Modulus, I got mine for 42.08 posted from bankcroft.de.

Thats 18 saving from the current UK RRP of 59.99.

The Longshot has been the backbone of the modding community for a long time and then the Stryfe and RS have also become the modders new best friend. In the same manner, the Raider Stock has been the gamers stock from day one, but it really clashes with the Modulus colour scheme. Throw on a Tornadostrike stock however and you get looks and practicality. I will add photos soon.
