Data can be found here. Larger tests are incoming.

First impressions are solid. The ammunition is effective out to 40ft on the field and 1 HIR will do the job of 3 darts in terms of precision. Performance is adversely affected by dirt, debris and moisture so scavenged rounds perform significantly differently to their dry counter-parts. This is something to keep in mind.

I'm very surprised at the muzzle velocity being so consistent. A larger test is incoming, I've got 100 HIRs on order in order to get a bigger data set. I'll also get my hands on Zeus at some stage. We don't currently have a spring that's stiffer than the spring presently in the orange trigger variants but it's very obvious that this is where Hasbro will 'Nerf' the Rival for the European and Australian markets.

Thanks for doing this Boff, data seems to sit pretty much where other testers got theirs. Can't wait for your spring mod for it!

Kabump! Full 50 ball shoot now available on the original thread. I have some further observations about this platform that I'd like to share.

The more I use the Apollo, the more of a feeling I get that it's designed to be a closed box system. It seems to me that the rounds and blaster are optimised to one another with very little space for innovation and modification. It's mostly just a gut feeling at this stage and I'll keep using it to see if I can work out exactly WHY I've got this feeling. Smile

It is worth noting this is the first time I've found that a Hasbro box claim has been proved to be reliable in that the blaster does indeed get 100FPS average out of the box. There is a very small standard deviation which means the muzzle velocity is relatively stable and we're not seeing the wild variances we see with darts. The lack of a CE mark anywhere on the blaster or box means that the EU is going to get something seriously downgraded compared to our US cousins.

Oh and I'm about to weigh all the balls I can get my hands on so we can get a better idea of mass distribution.

EDIT: So I weighed a lot of balls. I'm wondering if I should weigh an equal number of Gen 3 Koosh and see if there's a similar variance there for comparison's sake.
