Post White Stripe XD Elite Rapidstrike  Reply with quote
It seems both Argos and Amazon are now shipping the new "White Stripe" XD Rapidstrike, so I thought a review was in order.  In case anyone is unsure it's this one- image from Hasbro.

Overview- You get the same things in the box, a single 18, darts and your new XD RS. NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGES to the internals.

Performance- Not tested a stock one, so no idea about that, but modded they shoot just as well as the old model.

Appearance- I like the new white stripe, it's better than the orange and matches elite era accessories properly, the elite lettering is generally very well executed. The stock tube is now orange, which personally I don't like, but on blasters like my Reaper with darker colours it could be useful for adding more visibility, otherwise the silver one is nicer.

Internals- Changes- different layout on the lower circuit board of the flywheel motors, but we throw that out, otherwise the same. 2 red stripes on the flywheel motors that weren't on the old ones.

Biggest issue- THE FLYWHEELS ARE UTTER CRAP. If you are buying one to mod, make sure you have spare flywheels because I have gutted 3 so far, all of the flywheels were so out of true I binned them.
Batch number on the one I have handy is 52091. To be fair 75% of the old ones were poor, but Hasbro has gone the extra mile to get a 100% failure rate so far!

Conclusion- The only RS now available new, so we are stuck with it, just plan ahead when you mod one. Orange stock isn't suitable for all paint jobs and covering it is difficult because it slides, so will scratch.

Boff whats the damage? I have spent over 3 times my Nerf budget this month already. Part of me is trying to be a responsible parent/husband/house owner. The other half is just says 'Ahhhh, Screw it!'.
