Hi Nerfers,

This is my first review, so let me know if I'm doing it right.  I recently found a Triad on sale at ASDA for 6.97.  At that price I snapped it up.  A small, lightweight, 3 shooter for 2 more than a Jolt - I couldn't pass that up.

I'd actually been looking for one as an emergency sidearm, for if I ever get to participate in a Nerf War for real.  My little 'un has a Jolt, and as a responsible parent, I ensured that it was rigorously quality tested.  The handle on the Jolt was too small for my adult hands, my little finger would interfere with the plunger mechanism when it fired.  This is not an issue for the Triad.  It fits pretty well in my hand, even though my hands are larger than average.

The Nerf gun itself is white, so not sure which Nerf colour scheme that is, but matches my Retaliator, so that's a plus.  I've also heard that Retal springs fit the Triad, so I may mod it at some point with a stronger spring.

The loading of the darts is easy.  Slip three in, pull the plunger and you are ready.  I've done some "non-technical" testing, and don't have the equipment to do any FPS or other statistical tests, so this is all anecdotal.  I measured the distance between the far end of my kitchen to my front door - somewhere around the 33 feet mark.  This is my "range".  The dart fires pretty straight, not many wander off to the left or right - the few that did were older, used and abused, darts.  They all hit the front door at about chest height from a flat shot.  Sorry, no room for any angled shots in the house.  I reckon that a flat shot would get between 40-45 feet, but again, that's just a guess.

I've also used this in a home game as my only weapon.  It played pretty well.  Much easier to blind shoot from cover with a gun this small.  As it is un-modded I was much happier playing Nerf with my family as well.  I like the extra power modding it will bring, but not for a close-quarters home game.

Final thoughts: if you are on a budget, have large hands and want a small emergency sidearm, then the Triad is for you.  The key for me is hand fit... it needs to fit and feel comfortable, this does.

I can confirm that the blaster will take stock Retaliator springs, Blastersmiths 5kg upgrade ones and both the 5kg and the 7kg from orange mod works. I have not tried any other springs in it but, given that none of these springs gave me any trouble at all, I'd say all Retaliator compatible springs should be fine.
I would, however, suggest that you unscrew and rescrew it carefully as those screws are all that holds the beefy springs in place and the shell will break if you are careless installing them.

The white is the Elite XD colourscheme without the XD range claims I think. Don't worry though, those claims were proven false ages ago anyway.
