Post Commission for a Rainbow/buying secondhand homemades  Reply with quote
Hello there! I was wondering whether there would be anybody here willing to accept a commission for a couple of homemades. PM me if you are interested.

Moved topic to Trading as is more fitting.

You might have more luck if you specify what you're looking for etc. Note that the UK is very low on home-made builders so you might have more luck importing from the US.

What Boff said.

We dabbled with homemades a few years ago but the metric system kinda puts the kybosh on it unless you want to use non standard darts which is a complete nightmare. That's why we tend to run superstock with standard darts like the Aussies.

IMHO there's no real point commissioning one unless you have a fettish for plumbing parts. I can see why people like to build them but they're really not worth bringing to events these days.

Thank you for the replies. I am more interested in having a plain single- shot design for a LARP I'm planning on organising and I believe something like a Rainbow will do quite nicely. Even something old laying around will do, since I plan on doing the touching- up myself.

Fair enough.

If it's the appearance of the homemades you are after (for a steampunk LARP for example) then you could look at getting yourself a vintage blaster and modifying that. Sometimes the aesthetics of Elite blasters can get a bit boring.

The other thing worth considering is cost. A Rainbow Pistol is going to set you back upwards of 60 when you could brass a Firestrike for 20.

I would suggest you go to an American for a rainbow pistol or whatever. We can't get the parts here easily and that is true for all of Europe, as the EU has different plumbing standards to the USA. Many of the products and parts are not available here at all.
As a serious UK builder I wouldn't take this commission, as it's more hassle to find the parts and you wouldn't want to pay what it would cost for me to build properly.
If you are looking for close to rainbow performance you should look at JT Splatmaster .50 paintball pistols like the Z100, they hit 130-140fps out the box and shoot darts without mods. You can easily barrel or cosmetic mod them too.

For the right price, I'd be happy to part with the +bow and rainbowpistol BlackboarderV is making for me (once they're complete obviously)

Also, UKNW, you're going to regret saying homemades aren't worth bringing to events this saturday

Now BBV is back (now known as 'Morrison') you can commission a homemade from him. His work is top notch.

EDIT

Please don't necro old topics. All the information you need is in the previous post. Search for the user 'Morrison' and ask him about building a homemade.
