Post [READ NOW] Trading Forum Etiquette & Guidelines  Reply with quote
The BritNerf trading forum exists to facilitate trades, sales and exchanges between members. I will use the words trades, sales and exchanges interchangeably in this guide and they are to taken to mean any activity that utilises the BritNerf trading forum to swap goods and services between our members

The idea is mostly to provide a place where we can exchange stuff with fellow hobbyists rather than being a market place to make a quick buck. The full rules can be found in the BritNerf Code of Conduct (CoC) and what follows is a guide only. If there is a conflict, the CoC takes precedence. Regulation here is deliberately light touch and laissez faire.

Trades are between private individuals
All trades are between private individuals. The CoC clearly states that BritNerf A&M staff will not arbitrate in disputes. If you have a problem with a trade, try to resolve the situation via PM. You are then free to post your honest experiences in the Trading Feedback thread. Both parties are limited to one both within the template per trade. Any deviation from this is a violation of keeping threads on topic (CoC clause 3) and will be dealt with as per normal moderator procedure.

Clear Communication

Buyers and sellers should haggle and answer questions VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE and both sides should try to answer promptly and clearly to avoid confusion.

Questions for the seller
If you have a question about a listing that you feel may occur to more than one person then feel free to post the question publicly in the thread as information added there might be of benefit to other interested parties

When a price has been set and the buyer has paid sellers should SPECIFY POSTAGE DATES to assist the buyer. If the buyer has paid for a specific postage service, e.g. recorded delivery, the seller is obliged by the CoC to use that method.

Under 16's
Remember, the seller must have legal authority to trade the goods at hand as per clause 9 of the CoC. If you’re under 16 you probably need permission from a parent/guardian to do the thing. If you have concerns then DONT TRADE with minors.

The seller sets the price, if you don't like it vote with your wallet and buy elsewhere. Posts in sale threads complaining about price will be removed. Again, moaning about the price publicly will be deemed to taking a thread off topic and will be dealt with accordingly.

Buyer and Seller Protection
Services like PayPal’s ‘Send money for goods/services’ offer a degree of protection that you might want to look into - ‘Send money to friends and family’ while fee free does not cover you in the event things go awry. Tracked postal services may also offer some peace of mind in the event of things going missing.

End Document

The above is a guide only (just to reiterate). I've left this thread open for questions in the event I have missed something or people would like clarification on any particular point. I'd suggest you read the CoC closely before you post as your question is most likely answered there. Smile I will also be nuking and locking old threads to tidy the place up in the next few days on an ongoing basis.
