Another month has flown by and lo and be hold it was time for another Grim up Nerf. Back at Tong for a pleasant change - the chapel and grounds might be smaller than at Farsley but that just makes for a more compact but no less enjoyable game.

Thanks to justajolt for getting things going this month. We like the justajolt t-shirt - you should consider making them more widely available Smile

About 30 keen and enthusiastic players turned up on a sunshine and showers afternoon. The rain managed to hold off till the very end for which we are grateful, and while the ground was wet we still used most of the outside grounds. We welcomed a few new players into the mix who've found their way via Facebook and britnerf - good to know we can still find new recruits to come and join us.

Various rounds of lock down, defend the core, flux (still a brilliant game with it coming down to the wire on every game) and HvZ filled a fast paced but friendly afternoon and we played through till 4pm with all ages of players. When even the 5 year olds get it, and play fairly and competitively, then it seems a shame to deprive them of the opportunity to enjoy themselves.

Once our younger players had departed the remaining 8 bust out the big blasters and enjoyed some super competitive kill confirmed. Jay and Mr Crane provided the tactical advice we needed to turn us all into rogue troopers ready for next month's battle of Britain!

Talking of which, as BoB is on the second Saturday in July Grim up Nerf will be back in August - look forward to seeing everyone then!

Edit - update on blasters

Thanks to everyone who got Phil back up and running so quickly - he was as heavily loaded as before!

I discovered just how much better/different being a member of the #flywheelmasterrace makes the game.

And the nemesis was the centre of attention again. We had a lot more rival blasters turn up including Apollo's, Zeus's, Atlas's, Artimis's, and of course the nemesis. We are going to have to think more about how we handle this blaster in our game planning, but suffice to say we all still want one Smile

Sounds ace.

Don't desert us Springer dingers though,

When your flywheel is chucking every dart out at a consistent rate of knots with no jams or issues then I'm afraid you can keep your elegance Smile I'm going for maximum efficiency and effectiveness!

EDIT - just finished replacing the dart gate/front barrel on my retaliator which managed to snap yesterday and can confirm that actually i quite like it as well....

My first time at a proper Nerf event, came with a 9 and 6 year old too and I can honestly say I doubt we've all had such fun over a 4 hour period EVER.
Asked the boys what they liked best:
"EVERYTHING!"
"Are you sure?"
"Well, I didn't like it when I fell over and bled a bit"
"Oh yeah and I didn't like it when I ran into the wall when I was having too much fun to look where I was going"
"BUT OTHER THAN THAT EVERYTHING!!"
Safe to say we're coming back and I suspect we'll have a few friends in tow! (4 other families desperate to join in at last count!).
My eldest and I will likely check out Wolfpack and FDT too.
Someday I should be able to get Mrs Collide to pick the boys up and get my arse kicked by the big boys too!

TDLR: you run an awesome event and even my 6 year old understood the game rules, well done, that's not an easy thing!

rab - I'm a springer thru and thru but I've faced the Nemesis and there is only one response. WANT ONE!
Seriously, protect the core was punctuated with "NEMESIS ON THE RIGHT/LEFT!!!". Honestly the blue team got pinned down at the respawn point by Jay & Mr Crane, both with rival blasters and we only held out so long because they didn't realise:
1 - where the core was and
2 - they'd actually cut us off from our respawn.
It's a beast and despite my love for springers (rocked a stock retaliator for most of the day) I can see July's paycheck going on one.

Sad to say that It's likely to be September before we can be back (between BOB and my August Commitments)

Excellent review - we appreciate it!

Great to know we are keeping things as inclusive as we can for all age groups. Simple games with clear objectives and rules make it better for the range of players and easier for us to ref.

We'll be happy to have you (and all the other recruits you've found for us!) back any time.
