It looks bloody awful!
Anyway this is my stupidly overpowered air blaster, made from a silver line tools drain blaster. The barrel is interchangeable between mega and standard darts, the 22mm pipe is a bit short as it was all I could find in the shed. It has no aesthetic work done on it at all ATM but I am considering using the mechanism in a steam punk inspired mega stefan firing loony blaster.

OMP stands for " Oldnoobs Mega Pointless."

Promised re-write slated for 20th October!

Ranges?  Twisted Evil

(Ducks as OldNoob explodes in apocalyptic rage…)

More accurately, what's the FPS of this?

Ranges- depends on how many pumps, has shot 120+ ft with 30 degree elevation and stefan darts.
With the mega darts, hard to say as the prototype has insufficient tip weight and its been raining here for 2 days.
I will test it on the chrono and put up the results as soon as I have enough darts.

Only 2 days? So you've had good weather so?  Very Happy

Actually thats something I've been meaning to check. If chrono results are affected by temp / humidity?

They will be, for two reasons, the first being air density and pressure, which will be by an amount not measurable when you are firing as close to the chrono as I am and I suspect would be in fractions of FPS, given the millibar range of pressures in the UK and the fact I am less than 100ft from Mean Sea Level.
The other thing that will make a difference is the effect on ammunition. Darts swell on hot, humid days, and contract when its colder. Thus barrel fit will change. Size and fit of dart is quite critical in Nerf blasters, look at the effects of used darts on ranges- Toruk and Better Nerf By Science have results.
This could be good for 5-10 FPS in springers, depending on barrel fit, possibly more in modded blasters and hi-po homemades or air blasters.

Just to clarify, I am not a range test hater, I just think they should be returned to their proper place, as a fun way of measuring how far you can shoot with everything optimised. They are not suitable for proving x mod is better than y mod or for determining comparative performance across the NIC.

EDIT

I don't mean to be a hater, but please could this get moved into the Homemades pictures thread as it is not a write up.

Nice mod!

By all means. I have no idea how to do that tho.
As an alternative I will edit the OP tonight to act as a write up if you wish, then everyone's contributions can stay on it.

If you can edit the OP that is fantasmagorical. Putting it into the homemades thread is as simple as copying the OP and pasting it into the reply for it.
